With E4D, the crown is designed and milled while you wait. That means there is no interim crown to look after and no second appointment to schedule.
- Will I need impressions?
- No tray of impression material is needed, because your tooth is scanned digitally instead. The scan captures the prepared tooth and the teeth next to it. Your dentist uses that scan to design the crown on screen so it fits your bite. Many patients find a scan more comfortable than biting into impression putty.
- Is a same-day crown permanent?
- Yes, a same-day crown is a final crown, not a temporary one. It is bonded in place just like a crown made at an outside lab. The only difference is where and how quickly it is made, since it is designed and milled in our office. You care for it the same way you would care for any other crown, with daily brushing, flossing and regular checkups.
- Can every tooth have a same-day crown?
